Home Owner Tips
I am also a homeowner who understands that you would like to do your own updating to your home. I have, but I have found that there are some things that you should do before you start.

1. Check with your local building department to see if you will need permits.
2. Go over all contracts with your sub-contractors, make sure that everything is spelled out. Including what will be done, products used, if you are to supply material (specify exactly what will need to be supplied) time lines, who is responsible for delays, additional cost, contact information, and payment is due after or at the time of completion.
3. Verify who will be calling on inspections, make sure you receive the approvals from the building inspector.
4. Who to contact if you are having problems with the job, their employees, and etc.
5. DO NOT SIGN OFF ON WORK UNLESS EVERYTHING IS THE WAY THAT IT IS SUPPOSE TO BE.

This is a very general list of suggestions. Please make sure to check back with us, because we are always updating the information.
